Frequently Asked Questions:
Part of the job is, of course, answering questions you may have and we thought we'd share a recent E-mail with you that may help others as well...

"I have a M1 900. They're stock with a 150 HP. Mine is 192 HP it does all right in the powder but it doesn’t climb like I want it to. Wondering how much horse power CMX are putting out, and what it would take to make mine as good as a CMX. What would be the difference between mine and the CMX for climbing in the deep powder?"

One of the reasons that we started building sleds back in 1991, was because we realized that you can’t modify a stock sled and achieve the performance levels and weight reductions that you can by starting from scratch. That is still true today. We use a lot of exotic material to create the CMX, such as Titanium, Carbon Fiber, Chrome Molly and Aluminum. It is not just about horse power, it is also about efficiency & light weight. All sleds have their good points, and you can usually improve on them, but you can’t get there from here. There is no comparison.
One of the best upgrades for your Cat would be our CMX belt drive system. You would realize some serious gains in performance.

Another frequently asked question we thought we'd share:

"I have bought two Polaris snowmobiles every year since 1985. The snowmobile's of choice have been the 800 RMK's, priced at $10,000 each. I have grown accustomed to spending top dollar for quality merchandise, including Harley's at $25,000 each. I have ridden CMX's and I am quite impressed. However I am confused on why they cost so much. I would love to purchase a CMX, but I am not convinced they are worth 2 1/2 times a Polaris Escape 800 RMK. Please forgive me if I seem ignorant, I really am interested in owning one or two. Thanks for your time."

Thanks for your inquiry. One of the reasons for the price is that the components that go into a CMX are very expensive. (Carbon fiber, Chrome molly, Titanium and so on) If we used the same types of materials that the majors use we would still out perform them because of efficiency issues, but it would cost a lot less to produce and we would be a lot heavier. We want to build the best mountain sled on the planet, that is why we use the best, lightest components and technology to create Crazy Mountain Xtreme snowmobiles. The CMX also comes with $800.00 worth of computerized instrumentation. As far as performance goes, between a CMX and an RMK, there is no comparison. The CMX makes everything that you do on a snowmobile easier. After 10 minutes on a CMX you would be more comfortable cutting and carving in the powder than you would on a sled you had been riding for 2 seasons. The value is definitely there to support our price tag. I have had people in your situation that tell me that the CMX is a better buy, because they don't have to upgrade every season. I can supply you with CMX owners names and phone numbers that have spent the money to own a (or several) CMX, and they can tell you their experiences. Every season over half of our production is for repeat customers. I would be happy to visit with you on the phone, if you like.
