Since 1996

Mark & Craig founded Crazy Mountain Xtreme in 1996 because they knew they could build a better snowmobile. They were dissatisfied with the mediocre products that the big manufacturers were producing, which weren’t capable of getting everywhere they wanted to in the backcountry.

They started building custom sleds for themselves and their friends using only the highest quality materials and countless hours of labor to create the high-horsepower, feather light, snow-shredding backcountry machines that came to be known as CMX.

Innovation

In 1999, CMX was the first snowmobile performance shop to offer a belt drive on a sled. R&D proved that reducing rolling resistance in the machine freed up the available horsepower, optimizing the overall performance of the machine.

CMX SNOWBIKE PROTOTYPE

The performance principles developed during our 20 years of snowmobile modifications proved applicable with the first snow bike build. Tested in 2015 the first CMX Snowbike Kit was nothing short of revolutionary in its design, build and functionality.

Belt Drive Applied

With two decades of experience engineering the ultimate snowmobile belt drive, we quickly applied all of that of R&D to our snow bike kits, launched in 2016. Notice the low angle of attack. This is why CMX kits get up on top of the snow so well. Combined with low rolling resistance and spooling up to higher track speeds, your snow bike is more capable… and more fun to ride.
